for those who own this camera, what is the problem of image blur from the shutter when using lens adapters with the camera? i was thinking of getting one for my wife and using an adapter for all the nikon lenses we have but so many reviews talk about this problem that i have second thoughts.

I suggest, now that you have read some reviews, Googling the issue; you will be deluged with impressions, experiences, etc.  A quick search here at LuLa will turn up many references as well.  In a nutshell, the problem appears only in a narrow shutter-speed range, say from around 1/50th through 1/120th -- and that's only in the a7r.  The a7 has a different shutter mechanism that's virtually immune from the shaking.

Unless 36 MP is crucial, why not consider the 24 MP a7 for your wife?  I have both cameras and am hard-pressed to notice the difference when printing @ 16x20.

. . . and I should have also mentioned that the issue is likely not adapter-related; several testers have noticed the a7r shake with native lenses as well.

If your wife takes photos mostly handheld I wouldn't worry about shutter issues. They appear to be a problem only under very specific circumstances, as noted in Ron's response. In nearly three months of using the camera I have yet to see anything amiss. I would recommend, though, going with a minimum shutter speed of 2x focal length due to the sensor's high res and the camera's relative lack of mass.

I haven't read much about the camera as yet.
Is there a mirror lockup function?
