Title: Sigma 24-105 zoom - stiff zooming?

I just got this lens and noticed that the zoom ring is a good deal stiffer than I am used to with other zooms. It works fine and is perfectly usable and smooth, but I am wondering if this is a normal characteristic of this lens or if I should return in.
