I took some shots down at Bloody Bridge just before Chrsitmas with the Fuji X-E1 and the 14mm lens.
Here's one of my favourite.

Thoughts on composition? How could this have been improved?

Hi Martin, nice shot, maybe crop off the white sky area at the top?
-
Nice shot, lovely colours and movement.
As for thoughts for improvement, I would rather have some more space on the left and less on the right - the main stream of the water is now to much to the left. As for the sky - either crop it entirely of a little bit more of it.

Great location with smooth water and rocks. What potential!
I find the composition of this photograph to be too concentrated in the centre. My eye follows the over upstream then back down again rather than there being "movement" or a "pathway" around the scene. Moving so that the river is on a diagonal always increases the "movement" within a composition. If this is not possible, consider a square cropping with the stream off-centre.
I also, agree with Kevin in that the sky draws the eye away from your composition. The question is, should there be more sky or less. Less if it is just blown out white; but I would suggest more sky if you can reveal some detail in it. If, for example, there are details (e.g. at lower exposure values, clouds appear), then I would give the sky a separate treatment (e.g. Adjustment brush in Lightroom) to reduce those values and, perhaps, bring out more detail, as can be done with an increase in the Clarity (Lightroom) adjustment.
Wonderful image and location, both with lots of potential! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your feedback guys - great to learn some more ideas re composition!!
No doubt I'll process a few more and possibly revisit the location in the next month.
Thanks

This was a slightly different view:

That is IMO a better one, like it a lot. The sky and horizon add to the scene, the composition is better balanced.

Wow! I'm there! Much improved point of view. And much better sky (although is that a halo I see around one of the trees? The size is too small to tell)

Thanks guys
I'll check the original for a halo.
