Good morning,
As some of you may remember from my previous posts, the area around Cabo Sardão, in southwest Portugal, is one of my favourites. This time, about a week ago, I went out there to photograph the sea with moonlight, and dawn. It was really cold, but one thing I do like about the little Fuji X's that I use now, is the fact that they are really easy to operate, even in the dark. And the 14mm lens is a gem indeed.
I have shot Velvia for about 20 years, so I have tried a preset from Thomas Fitzgerald.
Regards.

All beautiful but #3 and 4 are my favorites.

A bit over the top for my taste, nevertheless I like them. The first is my favorite with the stars falling into the ocean and the soft colors.
The other photos are more saturated or vibrant, almost Galen-esque (or Rowell-esque). I like the far/near composition.

Not for me.
I love color.
You may have noticed that.

and heat! ;)

It is easy to escape to the tall cool Mountains where I live.

Really nice, Paulo. The effort shows.
I especially like the encompassed compositions of 2 and 3. I would be tempted to darken the foregrounds slightly.

Indeed. You freeze, we all benefit. :D
Lovely images. Thanks!

Lovely, especially 2 & 3 with the Belt of Venus.

Really nice near-far compositions. I think I'll vote with Francois for #1.

In the for what it’s worth column, when viewed directly on screen as displayed by a browser (mine anyway) these do seem a bit over the top for color saturation. But if imported to PS and allowing PS to use the embedded profile (Adobe 1966 2.1) they are simple marvelous in my opinion. Nothing at all over the top at all, they are absolutely gorgeous images! I hate them! ;) Only because they make my images look like trash in comparison.

I really like them all but the skies look a bit oversaturated for my tastes, especially #3. My favourite is the second image. I would love to shoot there and even go down to the beach if possible.

Thanks all for the feedback. I can appreciate that these look over saturated for some, tastes differ. To me, it was an interesting experience to try and get the Velvia look that I was so enamoured of a few years ago.
As for going down to the beaches, well, most of them are impossible to go down to, they are inaccessible. One of the beaches has steps carved into the rock, but that is the only one I know of.

I was also a big fan of Velvia back then but in general now I prefer more subtle tones. That being said I like your photos and getting that saturation touch once in a while is not that bad! ;)

Never take too much risk for a photo, it's not worth it!

I agree about being extra cautious when taking photos, especially in isolated places. Should you fall down or need help, there may be no one around to even hear you.
