Title: Fall colors - a different point of view
Post by: churly on November 12, 2013, 07:27:57 pm
I spent a hour and a half crawling around on the wet ground to shoot these.  I was looking for something a bit more intimate.  Got to admit, the third one is a bit odd.
As always critique welcome.

I like #3. Was a right angle finder used?

Very nice images.
I also tend to #3 as fav.
The they start living when seen at their magnified size - the thumbnails really don't tell the story.
Good stuff.

Thanks for the comments.  Interesting choice of favorite as that was is my favorite as well but I didn't figure anyone else would like it.

No, I wasn't using a right angle view finder just basically chin right on the ground for the first 3.  I've looked into a right angle finder but am pretty much set up to feed live-view to a tablet now.  I'm just trying to rig something more robust and water resistant with a sunshade for the tablet.   It remains to be seen how well I will like carrying the extra bits of equipment.

I enjoy this type of shot but find it very difficult to get a clean composition.

If you enjoy #3 perhaps you will like this shot.

You are getting a consensus - #3 is my favorite as well. And I like your bark photo.
I love the consumer-grade SLR flip-out LCD for this sort of shot. I have a Canon 60D, which I think of as "the Back/Neck Saver".
