The 25 and 90 are really nice lenses and cover the full 645 frame. This is nice.

Hi John,

All 25mm sold outside Japan are DA type ("optimized for the current sensor size of the 645D") not D FA type which indeed covers the size of 645 film. Although in the press release they mention D FA 25mm I have a hunch that is a typo and they mean the DA variant. The 90mm is D FA so, nu problems being future proof!

Indeed Tom, great opportunity even for a camera + 55mm free + one of the two remaining lenses for 500 USD off! That's around 13K for the camera new and two modern weather sealed lenses.

I heard a strong rumor that on that day another company will give a 50 bucks instant rebate for any back more expensive than 30K!  ;D

Interestingly, that's roughly the price of an upgrade from an IQ180 to an IQ280.  ;)

Yes it’s a good deal for new buyers of the body.  Pity no deals for existing owners.
Perhaps the announcement of a 645DII is imminent, as Radu has previously stated.
If so, it will be interesting to see the changes – CMOS? bigger sensor? faster processing?

The good Pentax folks used to think 2 years ago that the 2 major shortcomings of the 645D MkI were the lack of thethering (since then fixed) and the lack of live view.

Let's hope that their business plan enabled them to unlock the R&D resources needed to develop a CMOS or to have one developped.
