What's up at the bottom of the stairs? There's a sort of light spot, as if someone got a little heavy-handed dodging. Also, is there a texture overlaid on this, or is that really how the wall looks?

I think this is a pretty strong image, the color works well for me and it's graphically pretty punchy. It feels slightly overprocessed, but it's credible that this is pretty much just how it looked. California's a funny place, and sometimes it just looks overcooked in real life.
