I just bought this from Sheldon on here and formatted a CF card in it (although it was reading it Ok when I stuck it in) and I went out for the afternoon shooting and the imac says it cannot read the card - it wants to format it. I tried my Vosonic VP887 - which reads Canon and PhaseOne RAW files Ok - and it says it is unformatted too! Yikes! What can I do? I don't really want ot lose the shots as there were some good ones on there, is there any solution?
I will format them in tha canon and take a few shots and see if they can be read.
Oh, using mamiya 645DF body

You can try this though it may not work...
Leave the card in the back and connect the back to your mac with firewire cable and see if the card pops up on the desktop.
There is also a Sandisk application which can sometimes recover data.

Good Luck with the effort.

Ouch, sorry to hear that Odille!
I think I had to do a clean format on a CF card the first time I used it, I don't remember if it was done in camera on on the computer first though. I think I might have done both. I used it on a PC so I'm not sure if there was something different there than what you've got going on.
You might try grabbing another CF card and doing a few formats/tests/downloads to figure out what works best, then try to save the images off the card from yesterday.

You will find this article (http://www.phaseone.com/Search/Article.aspx?articleid=2246&languageid=1) useful
Before you start messing about with the card, create a support case so we will be able to track and record the issue: Contact Support (http://www.phaseone.com/en/SupportMain/ContactSupport.aspx)

Thanks for the replies - it is a SanDisk Ultra II 15 MB/s 8Gb card. I'll try the firewire connection and see if that works. I have a 16Gb card I use in the Canon 1DsMkII, I think I will make that dedicated for the Leaf and format it as instructed on the page yaya sent me to.
I'll come back later and let you know how I get on.

The firewire connection does not work either - says it is not formatted. Bugger!
OK. I've formatted it using Disk Utility - now I just need to egt the cats to pose again!
Can anyOne help me out with a user guide PDF for the back. I can only fInd Aptus II series ones online and while it was helpful the correct one would be nice.

Didn't work, next suggestion?
I guess it is buy an 'approved card'. Mine are all SanDisk Ultra or Lexar. Obviously they won't work in it.
is the list below the right one for my Leaf Aptus II though? Could it be OSX 10.5.8?
Approved cards:
SanDisk Extreme Pro 16 & 32 GB
SanDisk Extreme 8 & 16 GB
SanDisk Extreme IV 2, 4, 8 & 16 GB
SanDisk Extreme III 2, 4, & 8 GB
Pretec 333x 8 GB
Pretec 433x 8 GB
Kingston 600x 32 GB - firmware updated version Jan 2012
Kingston 266x 32 GB
Kingston 266x 2 GB
Sheldon, which brand of card were you using in it, and do you run Mac or Windows system?
-
If your card could not be recognised by the Mac it could well be that it's reached the end of its life? In my experience once a card starts playing up it is better to put it in the dustbin...
The Aptus-II (pre 11.4.5) that is on this page (http://www.mamiyaleaf.com/documentation_userguides.html) is also good for the Aptus. There might be 1 or 2 functions that are a bit different but that's it
Enjoy!

It's never played up before, that's the thing. It was working perfectly in the Canon and being used 2-3 times a week! I had planned to use my 16Gb Lexar card in the Aptus but am understandably reluctant until this is resolved.
Thanks for the link to the manuals - I wondered where the stylus was! I didn't like making fingermarks on the screen.

I used a plain old 16GB Lexar Platinum II 200x CF card in the Aptus and had no problems. I used mine on a Windows platform, both Vista 64 and Windows 7. I imagine that there are a lot of cards that are going to work fine, but aren't necessarily "tested and approved".
Have you tried formatting a different card on your iMac, then formatting it in camera and shooting a few test images with it to see if that works?

I found 2 Kingston 4Gb ones I haven't used in a while, as they are on the 'list' I will try one of those. It's just one of those dopey glitches that crop up somtimes. If it works Ok I'll use those for a while, gives me 8Gb. I'll buy another 16Gb og pne opf the safe laebsl, I've been meaning to get another big one anyway.
WORKING!! The Kingston card has formatted and is working, everything looks fine and nice and sharp. I seem to have a slightgreen tinge but that's because I need to play with white balance etc.
WHEW! Now if the rain stops I can maybe get some nice mist shots in the morning.
