Title: A try at leading lines

Happy July All!
I'm trying for more stuff for the Prudhoe Bay calendar and wanted more than a standard building shot. What do you think?

I decided I didn't like the driftwood in the foreground or the vertical orientation. I like this version better.

one set of leading lines is  superior to two.  :D

I agree that the second is better, but I'd crop it just a fraction less, so you retain the whole of the large log.

Could you perhaps go back and re-shoot on a day when the weather is more appealing, though? If you're photographing a building with "Northern light" clearly imprinted on its side, you could at least do it when there's some sunshine.

I've come back to this several times, and my biggest problem is that the lines strongly lead to.. nowhere? The visual center strikes me as the building, but the shape of the photograph wants me to look at the sea wall at the staircase (which is good and interesting, and could work just fine, but the building is there..).

The light looks just fine to me.  Why not a "standard" view of the building,  which is to me an interesting structure.   The driftwood in the foreground looks a bit forced to my eye.   Not sure what a leading line is,  but there is nothing wrong with clear and simple.  Walker Evans ?
