Title: Print Appearance and Lighting Conditions
Post by: Mike Sellers on April 28, 2012, 10:16:19 am
My light in my studio is 5000 degrees. What I am wondering is if a print looks warm and saturated how will it look when displayed in an office environment with flourescent lighting? Will office light cool down the print noticeably?

Yes it could look different, but I recommend you try one and see. It's the best way of appreciating whether any difference matters to you.

normal office environment's flourescent lighting is probably the 760 or 860 range, means it that the tube will only have about 75-85% CRI in the 6500k-6800k region. Chances are it's gonna make the print look cooler, with either a magenta or greenish cast and lacking certain colors.
my advice is to recommend some picture lights to go along with the print when you print for your office clients. a set of 6000k cree LED bulbs would give the picture some correct colors and at the same time not mess up the office's lighting feel.
