Do yourself a big favor.  Contact Steve Kossack (find his email under the workshops section).  He lives just outside of Sedona, and if he is available, will probably agree to spend a day with you for a reasonable price.  I did this last year, and it was worth ten times what I paid him.  Steve is a really great guy and a fantastic guide.  He knows the area better than anyone, and will get you to the best places at the best times of day.  I couldn't recommend him more highly.

From my experience, sunrise at Airport Mesa is great, and sunset at red rock crossing is superb.

I will be traveling to Sedona in April. Any suggestions on good places to shoot, I was planing to go to Broken Arrow and Pioneer trail. I also heard there are some indian ruins that are very accessible by car.

There are lots of great places to shoot in Sedona.  Red Rock Crossing, Cathedral Rock, Oak Creek Canyon just to name a few.  Check this link to my web site for some of my Sedona pictures.

i'm going to be going to sedona near the end of may.  I was there for a day a few years ago, and only had time to goto oak creek crossing/cathedral rock.

Last time i was there i didn't have the time to do any sunset/sunrise pics at any other locations, this time i do want to shoot at some other locations.

Any suggestions on good vantage points for shooting sunrise/sunset pics??

I did shoot at sunset at oak creek crossing/catherdral rock.
but didn't have time to expore elsewhare last time.

I came in from the grand canyon late in the afternoon, and headed out for page the following orning.

This time i'm going to be there for at least 2.5 days (possibly 3.5 - depending if i manage to get a walk-in permit for the coytote buttes or not).

I'll check airport mesa.

One other question, last time i was there, if i recall correctly, you can't park at the state park where oak creek crossing/cathedral rock prior to 9am (one reason i took off earlier then planned for page).

Does anyone know of other parking availability in the vicinity, or what the lighting is like at sunrise there (ie. will cathedral rock be in shadow anyways?)

Khurram-

There is access to Red Rock Crossing without going through the Crescent Moon Ranch State Park.  From Sedona, drive south on 179 to the Village, second traffic light I believe, and turn west on the Verde School Road.  Take this road to the end and park.  You'll be up on a bluff just above RR Crossing.  There's easy access down to Oak Creek.  Be sure to have a Red Rock Pass in your car.

Directions are much appreciated.  
Last time i was there, i thought about chancing it and returning in the morning.  But when i saw the tire traps on my way out, i thought better of it.

THis time i definately will go there in the moring as well.
