Title: Mamiya Auto Bellows

I'm interested in using a componon hm enlarger lens with the mamiya auto bellows and a 5d2.
I think someone on here is using a similar setup but with a mamiya afdIII and db.

I'm interested in using this for macro work with food/produce.
Anyone have any input that would encourage or discourage this sort of setup?

Doug,

I actually hadn't seen that. I think you did pretty much what I was thinking.
I was originally referring to a post by Simon Harper. He uses rodagon lenses on a horseman vcc.

This might be a dumb question, but how did you mount the componon on the auto bellows? I see the step ring, but what are those other adapters?

Would you recommend the componon s 50mm for use with a canon 5dII?

Hi Jonathan,

I would recommend the Horseman VCC system which I use with a Mamiya AFDII and Nikon D3x bodies.

Horseman now have a newer version to the one I have so go to the link below.

The shortest focal length I can use on my VCC unit with the Nikon mount is 80mm. But I don't know if a 50mm can be used on Horseman's new model.

When it comes to macro, food, table top and reproducing art work I couldn't function with this system it is just fantastic.

I have a similar setup.

Mamiya bellows shift tilt and Componon Rodagon lenses.
Its quite handy for light cameras.

there are two Mamiya bellows the small one and the bigger one for 645 system.
The bigger one is much better, as it doesnt shade of so quick if you shift and tilt.

I have a kind of modified bellows, where you can put in some little lensboards in front and it works quite like a little viewcam. Looks like it is based on the Mamiya 645 bellows.
Used it quite often before I moved up to something bigger.

50 mm is to short for product and food shots
I liked 105 or 135 mm better. But depends on how close you want to go.
Using them in reverse position does often give better quality.
