Title: Cape Cod

Sept can be a little cold on the cape, although sunny weather is more like than other months. You won't see many landmark, but you will have a load of opportunities to shoot marshes, sand dunes, lighthouses, and shore line. Your range will be from bottom Hyannis to the tip P-Town, which is a 2 or less drive. But your best bet would probably in the Cape Cod National Seashore area. Hope you enjoy it ...

If you like photographing lighthouses, you'll find plenty to do in Cape Cod. If you're interested, have a look at the Massachusetts section of the New England Lighthouses (http://www.nicholsonprints.com/Lights/NewEngland.htm#7) page on my website for more info. Most of the lighthouses I have notes on are in Cape Cod. Feel free to email me if you want more specific info.

In Sandwich (on the "bicep" of the Cape's arm) there are some great landscapes near the water (well, I guess on the Cape just about everything is near the water), especially the catwalks over the marshes.

Have a great trip; it's a nice time of year to be on the Cape.

Wow. Tripod or the 8-month-old. That's a tough decision. :-)

Congratulations on the (relatively) new baby.

If I lived closer to the Cape, I'd be happy to let you borrow a tripod for your stay. Unfortunately I live three hours away in Southern Connecticut. But you're certainly right, monopods are much more managable to travel with.

We're one of those (currently) rare breed of Europeans that have decided to holiday over in the States this year. We're heading over to Boston and then Cape Cod early in September.

I'd welcome any info on what I'm likely to want to shoot when I get there.

We're staying at someplace called Brewster, althogh I've yet to do a search to see if there if anything notable there.

Thanks for the encouragement Chris. The trip is getting closer and I'm starting to get quite excited!

Wish we had more space for a tripod, but I'm already loaded down with 'necessary' gear and this is our first trip with our 8 month old! Unless I can rent one locally I'll just have to take the monopod.
