When I replaced the Duracell batteries in a Metz flash (I didn't use for some years), I noticed that one of the batteries had leaked and damaged a bit the contact (greenish - just on the contact).
How can I clean it / make it to work again?
-
If the leak hasn't got any further inside (look for any residue around the battery compartment), just gently scrape the contact with a flat bladed screwdriver to remove the corrosion, then tip any dust/muck out.

hasselbladfan,
Ouch... I have had similar experiences with a couple of pieces of equipment with Duracell batteries that were not even out of date. According to Duracell they will repair or replace any items that are damaged by battery leakage. If you can't clean properly, you might try taking them up on their guaranty.
Good Luck,
Ed

That's a good idea. The batteries were Duracell.
I will try the screwdriver first.
Thanks.

If there is any residual acid in the compartment baking soda to neutralize it

OK, guys. By scraping the surface, I am back in business.
