Title: Smiley bug

In case this bug hasn't been reported:

the number 8 followed by a closing bracket, "(8)", gives a smiley, "( 8 )" doesn't

Is it a a bug?  Notice the smileys above the text box?  Notice the Checkbox below the text box that says 'Don't use smileys'?
