If you need an hour's vacation, a still life can provide it.
Just pick a few items off the table, place them near a window on a suitable backdrop, and you have your destination.
As you set up the camera and play with the composition everything outside the viewfinder will disappear. You're on vacation.
And when you get back, you 'll have a postcard to yourself, from yourself, to show where you've been.
Now post this postcard as your screen backdrop, rest your eyes, and you'll be taken back there again.

PS. Any member of this forum is welcome to use this image as a screensaver, but it will be like looking at someone else's vacation photo. It doesn't mean anything to you, it means something to me. So go make your own! D3x and 50/1.8 @ISO800, handheld.

This version (different take) is just for you. Raw files are available per request so that other people can play around; in fact I will post a link here later. Notice how Lightroom has foobarred the bottom left of the apple.

That's a lovely vacation idea, Edmund, and a nice image too.
I've been playing some with vegetables while it was too hot to go outdoors. I'll try to put one up here soon.

We're always running away to some island for vacation. This year, we're staying home. The house needs cleaning, the garden is desperate for attention and I think it'd be fun to put together a little still life... ooh, maybe I'll even do a little motion work. Nice idea!

It was the 1st of August, Swiss National Day.
On Edmund's request, I took a little vacation to pay tribute to this day.

Wife went to pastry school to make objects for still life photos. Nice of her.
