Title: Magnets For Framing Without Frames and Plexi

I've seen a number of exhibitions in the last few years, some in major galleries, where photo artists have used stainless steel circular magnets to hang their work . One of the artists was even selling giant Lightjet prints hung this way for over 30 grand each. They were huge pieces and the presentation was surprisingly elegant. You just put a steel screw in the wall and magnet on top of the print corner, about six per print in all.

Does anyone know where you purchase these online? I've found the small ones about 3/8" in diameter but I'm trying to find the larger size that are about 1" in diameter.

http://www.supermagnetman.net/ is where I go for all my magnet needs. He's got four pages of disc magnets, I'm sure the size you need will be there :)

I really appreciate it. This is the only place that seems to have exactly what I want.

This other place has the same thing essentially, but has some kind of dimple on one side of the face of the magnet and I couldn't tell if it was the back or the front or if it mattered.

I really like the idea of using the gold plated 1" magnets on a warm tinted paper with my carbon sepia prints though.

John, can you help me imagine how the presentation of a large print held up by magnets looks elegant? Was the print mounted so it was flat? Did it have oversize borders? Could you see the magnets?
I'm curious. Sounds interesting. Is there a photo of this type of presentation out there somewhere?

I love Lee Valley, but I find the prices from Magnet Man are more appealing. I love the pin magnets they have. I use them to hold prints on my print viewing board.
