Hi,

I don't really get the question...

I'd say that 35 mm DSLRs grabbed a bit of the MF (film) market, and MF digital grabbed a bit of the LF (film) market.

Best regards
Erik

That "bit" was actually a megabyte.  :D

Another thread in this forum talked about a VC invested on Hasselblad for "funding to enter new market segments".
I'm curious what that new market segment is. My guess is it must be following the 35mm DSLR's steps.
Two major new market segments appeared in the 35mm DSLR talk are Rangefinder and the still-an-movie in one.

I don't think MF range finder is a sweet pie for Hasselblad, for I think it requires a new set of lenses, not something Hasselblad affordable.
Still-and-movie in one, on the other hand, is likely just the body business, may be just the pre-fire mirror or some kind of live view. It should be cheaper to develop, but the movie industry could be a gold mine, and Hasselblad could fit very well in the professional movie maker market.

Isn't Red working on large movie / still sensors as big as 617? To me Red cameras look more video oriented. So I can see Phase or someone taking the sensors and making a primarily still camera that can take video.

Once we get some large still / movie sensors I can see it being very popular. I know I'd like one but it'd be out of my price range.
