Title: Intensity setting (SpectraViewII): at 140 my Nec2490 is too bright.

Hi.  I regularly calibrate my Nec Multisync LCD2490WUXi2 using Nec's SpectraView II software with an X-Rite ColorMunki Photo photospectrometer.  Per the excellent advice I got here on LuLa (iirc) I am using the "Photo Editing" target settings.  My use is strictly for photo editing.  My goal is to get the images on-screen to match prints made with an Epson 3880.  Mostly, this has worked well.

My monitor, though, has always appeared overly bright to me.  (I had been using a luminance value of 80 in the past, first with the ColorMunki Photo software on other monitors, and then even on the Nec using the SpectraView II's included Target "Print Standard".)

 • Is the correct (and best) way to lower the luminance of the monitor by editing the value in the Target Settings to something lower than 140 cd/m^2?
 • Is there a suggested target value other than 140?
 • Do I lose anything?  Are there any reasons this is not recommended?

I am also likely to purchase a second Nec monitor for use in another location.  I expect to purchase a wide-gamut monitor.  Will the setting for the 2490 in any way reduce my ability to match (as best as possible) the output from each monitor?
