Title: Arca M-Line 2 + Phase One IQ160 on Order
Post by: issa on April 03, 2011, 09:11:51 am
Hi All

I have been visting this forum for a while and find it very helpful, and wanted to share my exciting news, I have taken the plunge and ordered a Phase one IQ160 645Df kit and a ARca M-line 2. I guess I will need some WA glass now. Will share experience once it arrives in June.

I am sure I will be back asking for hints and tips. I have decided not to order a sliding back until I see what and how good this live view is?

Congratulations!

I love my M2. I do use a Kapture Group SB with it. I use the M2 in the studio only and find the sliding back to speed up my process. You are getting a nice back. Keep us updated!

Word is the live-view is crap. Leaf was the (pitiful) bench-mark and this is supposed to be either the equal or worse.
Would love to have this proved wrong.

Yes, congratulations! :)

My M-Line 2 has just arrived at my dealers (Robert White) on Friday and I'm just waiting for the Schneider 43XL and 120N I ordered to arrive before I get my grubby hands on it. Hopefully by mid/late next week.

I've been bouncing back and forth between Schneider and Rodenstock wide glass for weeks as its a very difficult choice to make. In the end I went with the Schneider because of their superior distortion control. Just hope I've made the right decision.

Thanks all - I am like a little child, not looking forward to parting with all that money thou.

Me too - mine has been on order for last two months with jon at RW. I think I will get the 43Xl too. What DB are planning on using this on.

Thks

It might be, I was close to ordering a P65+, it was all the other options that made me choose the IQ, and if Live View is even 2 frames a second then it a bonus.

Snap!..... Jon at RW also. Have been waiting weeks for mine due to Arca's bellows supplier going bump I believe.  :(

Going to be using a P65+. Would have loved an IQ160 but after looking at the difference in price (got a very good deal) and the reports of very limited (only works in ideal lighting) live view and for my work how focus check works in C1 (contrast) the iPhone screen was just not worth it IMO considering its the same sensor/output. I shoot mainly tethered and have never been able to successfully judge images shot on location on a 3" screen on my Canon's. I know the new screens are a lot better but not everything is about focus when I review an image and always found a laptop essential especially when shooting with clients. I imagine if your a landscape or location fashion/social photographer the new screen will be a godsend but for my work, not so much and preferred money in the bank. The IQ180 would have made more sense for the newer chip but was way out of my price range.

If you've got the cash what the heck, as the new chassis and features are great and I know you'll love it.

Different camera but I will chip in as well. Hope to take delivery of the Leaf Aptus12R this week. Mounting it on the same Cambo and AFI that I have been using with my Aptus7 for the past 3 years. Traded the Aptus7 in on the 12 as I traded the Valeo22 in on the 7 and a dead Kodak Proback in on the Valeo22.
