Title: How exact is the Phase one and H2 focus?
Post by: henrikfoto on March 12, 2011, 04:09:08 pm
Is the focus on H2 and Phase one cameras exact?
And if not is there any way to calibrate the different lenses for that exact camera (like for canon etc.)?

both are fairly accurate, but only in decent light, especially the phase, it's not good at all in lowish light.
the hasselblad is better in lower light imo, but not by much.

i love the the solution phase has for manual focus and I use it all the time.
you just turn the ring on the focus barrel and your in manual focus. the screen is pretty good, so in low light i can manual focus very easily.
i also use it in the studio: auto focus, turn the ring to mf and shoot away - that way the focus stays put and i do tiny focus corrections with mf, or switch back and forth. very cool.

with hassy you have to move the focus button to the back and use your thumb - was kind of aukward for me (big hands).
the maual focus on the hassy wans't as easy for me either - but that's subjective of course.

hope this helps, but i'd recommend trying them both for a day.
