Title: New Website and Blog
Post by: BobDavid on February 08, 2011, 11:17:23 am
At last, my new website and blog is now online. www.topdogimaging.net  Please check it out. Most of the work was done with medium format backs.

The website design is elegantly clean and uncluttered and easy to navigate. And your work is quite excellent.

Jeremy ("Kikashi") will probably object to the fact that the arrow keys can't be used to move through a gallery, but I find placing the cursor over the second image in the thumbnail strip let's me easily click the mouse to move to the next image, with no need to move the mouse.

I will pass a link to your website to some dog-owner friends of mine.

Eric

Great site and still love your work, it's amazing what you get out of the dogs they look like real characters instead of just dog shots. I already told you that last year but seeing them now again I still enjoy them ;)

I'm looking forward to your next visit to central Florida. We'll have to use my dog, Jazz as a model. I'd love to see how you'd light her. She's jet black and she's not afraid of strobes and barbeque ribs.

I agree: the site is very clean and uncluttered. I would prefer the arrow keys to work, though.

There are some very attractive pictures. My favourite is the first, the b&w of the black dog. You've captured the tones quite wonderfully.

I like it as well. The only drawback I can see is that most viewers will need to scroll up and down to see the whole page on their monitor. Personally, that would bug me.

I've wrestled with the issue of page formatting for quite awhile. I agree, the scrolling bothers me too. ... A lot of the text is there for SEO reasons. But, the upside is that the site doesn't use Flash, so it's viewable on mobile devices and iPads. I also wanted to break away from the template conventions that I see on a lot of photography sites.

Thanks, for your feedback, Jonathan. I always enjoy reading your posts and looking at your photographs.

Happy to hear you like the first dog. That's my baby, Jazz. We rescued her from the pound about 8 years ago. I shot that pic with a Hasselblad H2F and a 39MP back.
