Title: Would you use 5X7 paper for 4X6 photos in order to make easier to frame?

Hi,

I have a newbie printer question. I've just purchased a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 printer in order to fill a house full of frames with photos. What I am wondering is if there might be wisdom in printing 4X6 photos on 5X7 paper in order to add a little bit of margin for framing? That way there would be a little extra paper to fix to the matte. Has anyone tried this? Would I be able to do this with the printer I'm using?

Yes, definitely. I routinely do this for all the images I print (especially for large prints). I use t-hinges to attach my images when framing, and the extra margin gives you a place to attach your tape so you if things really go badly years down the road you can cut the paper but not affect the image. Plus it gives you a place to sign your name!
