Nice. Is that frost on the road? (In this day of frequent excessive Photoshopping I have to ask.)Looks cold to me, so the sun is quite welcome.

Yeah, a hard, hard frost. Bloody cold. And the colour is as it was, reflecting the sky above.

Great to see that picture. Dartmoor is probably one of the most beautifull contryside I've seen in my life so far.

Fred, you need to travel your own countryside more! It is beautiful, like some parts of Scotland but with good, inexpensive food and wine!
I like that blue look to the ice; many would try to cut it down in order to avoid criticism, but I think the Chairman was absolutely right to retain it.
I wonder what it was taken with, because my power station experiment opened my own eyes to just how well the D700 can take into the light shots and hold detail.

It was indeed a D700, with 18-35 AF Nikkor, at 18mm

P.S. As useless as they might be as a critique, those two words are a perfectly adequate expression of my reaction when I saw the image. Love the cold blues, the blown-out, edge-hugging sun, stark remnants of the plants by the road, gentle hills in the distance, barely touched by the sun...

A mate of mine insists that (where he lives) other than the 'black tops', roads can be little more than dirt tracks, but still get classed as 'roads'. Here, if it doesn't have a tarmac covering, it's just a track.

Good road building ain't so easy ... after the fall of the Roman Empire, it took a thousand years to best the roads they left behind.
... although I guess some may have only been tracks ... mighty good tracks ...

I sit corrected. I do love the blue ice on that track, and it's a gorgeous photo altogether.
It actually looks smoother than many of the pot-holed "black topped" roads around here.
