Title: How would you choose monitor - hardware calibration or newer model with IPS etc?

I am choosing between a EIZO CG241W with S-PVA panel and that has hardware calibration and probably a more carefully selected panel since it is a more "high-end" ColorEdge model, but is now a bit old model, and a more modern SX2462W that is a FlexScan but has IPS panel, 98% of Adobe RGB, 3D LUT, Displayport etc.

The 241 is slightly more expensive.

How would you choose? The use is Photoshop, and I already have a CG241 I am quite happy with, but I need a new screen for my assistant....but I cant afford the new CG243 or CG245 models really....and I would prefer to stay with EIZO.

My preference would be for the hardware calibration.  And, with a company as dedicated to color reproduction as Eizo, I would not worry about the differences between IPS or S-PVA panels.

Thanks for the reply. What I understand is that IPS is a bit less sensitive to angle/head movement....

also  consider Eizo 303W
