I guess at higher ISO you have higher noise?  That means that you can't compress it is easily, so therefor slightly larger file sizes.

More noise is the best explanation that I can think of for the larger file size at higher ISO.  Perhaps I'm missing it, but as far as I can tell, noise reduction is always "on" except that there is an option for long exposures.  This option doesn't appear to have any effect on the number of available images that is displayed.

I just got a Canon 20D and, while learning to use it, noticed that a freshly formatted memory card shows 198 RAW images available when shooting at ISO 1600 but 222 at ISO 100.   I realize that the number of available images is an approximation because of variations in image compressibility but was surprised to find that it varied so much with ISO.  Why?

Hi,

Yes Rendezvous you are right.

As the 20D has noise reduction use it and the file size should go down at higher iso settings as well as the result will be better.
