Title: Map Seller

I always liked this one; I'm looking forward to getting a nice scan of the negative.

Post by: John R on April 03, 2010, 11:21:40 pm: I agree with Slobodan, the image is intriguing. But the unusual take on a portrait also makes me examine the scene even more. Two things bother me: the first is the reflection coming off the map. The second is the tree on the right. Nevertheless it is so unusual that at first glance I overlooked these reservations. And now I still feel the intrigue in the image is sufficient to outweigh my reservations.

I think the flash of sunlight off the map adds to the immediacy of the photograph. As to the tree on the right, I like that a lot better than, say, somebody's SUV parked there. Actually the silhouette of the upthrusting tree balances the mass of the silhouetted face on the left. It's good geometry.
