Sometimes converting to BW makes sense. I really like the juxtaposition of lamp shapes and shadows. I really wanted just the lamps but it was not possible unless I went for a really long landscape view of the wall and lamps. While I am not puritanical about format, I think the format I see through is the way to go, give or take a bit. It saves me from a lot of unnecessary cropping.
