is there anyway that i could use a hcd 28mm lens on H2 (H1 upgrade) body with a film back
i know the H2F can be upgraded to use the hcd lenses
can the H2 firmware be updated to match the H2F specs?

You can have your H2 converted to an H2F. In the US, cost is approximately $500.

...and loose the possibility to use it with digital backs without additional cables. Great!

You can still use it with Hasselblad CF digital backs but indeed not with others. At least not without cable and sofar I have not heard from anyone that has tried another back on a H2F with cables. I will believe that when I see it.

what about the phase one back?

Nope, I would not recommend the H2F with anything other than a CF back. Maybe other backs will work with a sync cable. Sofar I have not heard from anyone they have done so, even if it is possible it will be a pain in the b*tt. Maybe Hasselblad will open up the H in the future. I don't know. It does seem to be a good move at this stage. Nobody knows but at this moment your options in this area are limited to a few.

I completely missed the film back part of the question. No, you can't use the HCD lenses with film backs with any H body.

You are right Chris. You cannot, I have not used film anymore since '98. It is not part of my world anymore.

thanks guys, for answering my questions
sounds like getting a HCD28mm lens is not an option for me right now
i would love to move digital in the future when the funds allow
but right now, i think i will stick with my film back and get myself the HC35mm instead
