Title: Location in New York (studio or something else)
Post by: Frank Doorhof on January 27, 2010, 11:28:34 am
Hi,
On the 24th and 25th of April I will be teaching a seminar and workshop in New York.
We're still in search for a nice location, we have several options on studios but nothing really that I say "wow" or that is affordable.
I always try to keep the groups with the workshops small so there is not a huge budget.
Most of the times we work with 15 students max.

Any of you guys know a place or person than can help us out ?
The one that helps out gets a free workshop ;-)

for info on the workshop see www.frankdoorhof.com/ny

I would love a space were we can shoot with the surrounding areas or outside so not a real studio setting.

Thanks, mailed them.
There is already some work in progress in NY by 2 people but all hands help

In fact we don't even need a studio, a good location is much better for the workshop, studio shots are fun but working on a nice location outside/inside is much better.

same question, but just for holydays... what's the best way to find a small flat for 10 days ?
Best area to look for a flat as a pure tourist ? (please far to BH, too tempting ;-)  )

How much is it for that place to rent?

Depends on who's asking ;-)

You need to call and tell them what you are shooting, etc and they will tell you the price. It varies. Definitely under $1K for a workshop. You rent a floor at a time (they have 3 available floors for rental, all unique.)

I have shot there many times, and so has Meisel, Paolo Roversi, Leibovitz, and everyone else you can think of. It's really a great space. But bring your canned air, because it's plenty dusty.

We found a wonderful location thanks to LL.
I will be teaching the workshop in a big empty building with the NY skyline in the back.
Looking forward to it.
