From DP Review. This will give you some opinions. Perhaps it is the early production that has problems. Mine works fine. 2022XXX.

I used a D2H for 3 months, starting in January 2004. I returned the camera to the owner after this period. This camera has been used in very different and harsh conditions (from -20°c to 45°c, rain, snow, sun, sea spray etc...). It has never failed and continues to work perfectly. The owner doesn't "baby" the camera, quite the contrary in fact.
I see no reason to be worried .

Thanks.  He sure is down on Nikon right now, since Canon seems to be getting better/more megapixel cameras out there fast.  I want the D2X, but cannot afford one right now.  So its probably going to be the D100 or D70.  

I spoke with the rep at The Camera Exchange in San Antonio, and he was outraged by the guy at Lonestar Digitital.  He said Nikon should sue him for slander.  

Hmmmm....

I understand Mark, but it seems that others have had the same problem with their D2H cameras.

The author seems to imply that the D2H meter system WILL die rapidly, necessitating a trip to repair.  He also implies that this is a common fault with ALL D2H Nikons.  Is this true?  I was looking at a D2H (not a D2Hs) later in the spring.  But if the meter spontaneously commits hari kari, I am not interested.

I've had my D2H since last May with no problems or issues with it.  I have heard of people that have had problems for sure, but as the other poster suggested, they may have been early model issues.  I've really enjoyed using mine, although it's slated as a trade-in for the D2X when it's released up here (although, I may have second thoughts about doing that - I'd rather keep it  :) ).

Francois - sounds like you are describing me when you talk about how the camera has been used   :laugh: .  That pretty much describes my usage of it perfectly.  It's a tough customer, for sure.
