Title: New Canon Digiital camera coming soon?
Post by: mbridgers on October 28, 2003, 10:48:06 am
I've read rumors of a successor to the 1D lately, possiblycalled a 1Dx, that is a high speed, 8MP camera for sports and photojournalism.  Looks like the UK had a major price cut for the 1D, implying a successor in the works.

I'd doubt that they'd replace the 1Ds anytime soon.

Do any of these rumours run to a sensor size? I keep hoping for Canon to settle on one smaller than 35mm format for the sake of lenses; it would be nice if something like the EF-S line could be extended in the lower price ranges even if they stick with 35mm format lenses only at the top of the line.

Has anyone heard if Canon is planning on releasing a new digital camera with higher resolution than the 1Ds?  I'm about to purchase one but will wait if I feel there is a new one to be released shortly.  Thanks so much!

Prices for the 1Ds have dropped to the mid $6000 range, still a fortune but 20% less than originally. Such a deal! Price reductions like this often suggest a replacement in the wings...
