It comes across clearly as a race jockey, but with no other context, it just seems too dark to provide much interest.

Yes, it could stand a little lightening up and it wouldn't lose the mood.  I'd also be tempted to blur the shoulder/ back of the person behind him.

This is an absolutely outstanding portrait!  You really captured the emotion and intensity of the jockey.  Excellent work!
