Title: How to check the number of actuations. Nikon D2x
Post by: Shashinka on June 07, 2009, 07:24:47 pm
Anyone familiar with how I might be able to access information regarding number of actuations on a Nikon D2x?
Since I suspect it's software, I'd need something Mac compatible.

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

The number of actuations is not defined in Exif. Most probably it is not in the raw file at all, i.e. it is not in MakerNote either (which is part of Exif, but undisclosed). Probably it can be accessed only directly from the camera with service software.

Note, that the file sequence number is not a reliable indicator of the actuations, for it can be reset.

Hello,

The link I post before is what I used to get the amount of images my Nikon D2x had shot.

All I did was take the last image the camera had took and then used the website. I then posted it in “Local Image File”

After some time it came up with the total frames number.

Cheers

Thanks all.  Open the file in Photoshop CS2 + Go to File Info- Advanced-go to http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/aux/ (http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/aux/).

You will see serial number, lens info, lens, Imagenumber: xxxxxxxxxx

Thanks all, I'm sure there are more ways, but this one was the simplest for me to access.

take a look at ExifTool (http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/) (a command-line executable application)

if/once you get the app running, the field you are looking for is "Shutter Count"
