Edward,

A general rule I use to decide when to use mirror lock up is when my shutter speed is below 1/60" for any SLR. I agree the mirror slap is much softer on the 10D. On my EOS 30/Elan 7E it is a loud "quata"! But just to play safe, I use 1/60" as a rule of thumb. I have never performed any test to see whether this is a proper threshold but have read that it is what most pros use.

Canon makes it hard to lock up the mirror on the 10D, and, as far as I can figure out, impossible to do it for a sequence of shots.  However, it is a big camera and a much smaller mirror than on a standard 35.  Anyone have a sense of how much mirror slap matters on a 10D?  Should I even worry about it, assuming I am not using really long lenses?
