Title: Documentary on Photography
Post by: Murray Fredericks on February 05, 2009, 01:07:37 am
[attachment=11374:image.jpg]Hi All,

as a member and contributor to this forum I felt the following website would be of interest to many of you!

http://saltdoco.com (http://saltdoco.com)

Some of the actual Images are here:

http://www.murrayfredericks.com.au/current...ke-eyre0607.asp (http://www.murrayfredericks.com.au/currentexhibition-lake-eyre0607.asp)

This a documentary on a series produced over the last 6 years using 8" x 10" film, MFDB for stitched panoramics  and DSLR for the timelapse sequences. The work was made by living alone in the middle of a featureless SALT Plain in central Australia  - Lake Eyre, for 5 weeks at a time every year.

All video footage except the aerials was shot by me also.

If anyone is in Melbourne the work (120cm x 150cm pigment prints) is currently on show - see attached flyer.

Cheers

Murray

Congratulations, Murray, fantastic images!

I was stranded in Sydney, and it's such a pity that I couldn't come to Melbourne to see your prints. But testing the eXposure, with David, is as much important: you should be happy with it! David is enthusiastic about it.

All the best,
Thierry

Beautiful, Murray.
Congrats.

Did you have a custom cart built to transport the equipment?

Thanks all for the kind words!

The bike and trailer were available in 'bits' and I found a local shop that helped modify and assemble the whole kit. The Salt worked its way into everything, particularly in the wet years, so the bearings, chains and moving parts were replaced after each long journey.

I've just seen the prints in Melbourne - and brilliant is the word - also much larger than I had anticipated - really impressive as a body and the individual prints.
Actually, beautiful is a word I prefer over brilliant.
Congratulations Murray.
Bob.

This idea, to live alone somewhere and produce images alone is totally awesome. I imagine it must have been like meditation together with shooting.

Congratulations on getting the series featured in Eyemazing, the size and print quality of that magazine really did your photos justice. I'm not a big landscapes fan, but your series definitely stand out from the crowd.
