Just been poking around and looking at assorted camera prices.
One can buy an E-420 for $310. The 50D can be had for $1100. The A700 has a $300 instant rebate.
Less than 3 weeks to x-mas and it looks like it is a world of hurt out there right now.

Yep. Seeing as how it's discretionary spending for most of the market, sales of photography gear appears to be in free-fall, with lots of prices dropping fast. I've wondered for some time how Pentax and Olympus were going to fare with their small market share, and having their lines dropped by camera shops struggling to survive may be the kiss of death.
