Title: New 24mm 1.4 L II coming?

I saw some postings about this right around the time the 5Dm2 was announced, but have not heard much since.  Does anyone know if the new 24mm f/1.4 II has been confirmed, and when we might be able to get our hands on it?

Canon announced it before Photokina.  It is on their website.  Price is reported to be a lot and I've seen nothing about availability.

Edit: Available in October 2008 according to the canon website.

Nice to have a new wide angle, but I am still waiting for something wider

Top two Lenses I wish Canon (or someone) would make for EF mount.

- 16mm Rectilinear that is very sharp.
- 200-400 f4  Twist-Zoom (not push/pull).

Maybe a pipe-dream, but can hope.

You might get the 200-400 but I'd be shocked if they made a 16mm when they already have a 14mm rectilinear and a 15mm fe.

My dream lens is 15mm rectilinear @ f/2.  Or faster.

Yep, and especially considering that the 14mm f/2.8L MkII is very recent (one year old).

I had a play with one a couple of weeks back although it was on a 50D so can't comment on edge sharpness.
Seems very nice with minimal distortion.

...and what about new TS-E lenses? I saw some old TS-E ads in Canon Pro newsletter -- hopefully they are just trying to empty warehouses. Canon Tilt/shift lenses are nearly as old as I am (maybe not  exactly ).
