Micheal,

I just re-read your D700 field report.  I'm thinking about buying the D700, but us a zoom in the 24-105 range for almost all of my work.  In the article you suggested not buying the 24-120, but didn't make a recommendation for an alternate.  Is there one?

Not really. There's nothing as good as the Canon 24-105mm in the Nikon line-up.

The 24-70mm Nikon is superb, but you then need something longer to compliment it.
