Are there any Article (scientific or not) with positive Non-OEM-Longlevity Results.
I can not find any on the internet.
But there are some negative ones
(www.wilhelm-research.com)
Of course all manufacturers claim their inks to be good.
Or perhaps there are no good such inks.
They all seem to fade away very fast.

There is one here :
[a href=\"http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/acceleratedagingtests.html]http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/acceleratedagingtests.html
it includes a MIS (Image Specialists?) inkset in a R1800, with 2 papers (Epson Luster and RedRiver UltraProGloss).
Ages very poorly on the epson paper, less so (still faster than OEM though) on the RRP one. It seems that the yellow pigment is the main culprit, so there is way for improvement.
PS : Beware that all the data about 3rd party inks at Wilhelm only concerns el-chepo office inks (low quality dyes). The way their data is presented could induce some errrr... generalisation . They work in partnership with the mainstream manufacturers, after all.

Very interesting !
(I have been thinking about MIS K4)
What about Lyson + their own papers ?

Lyson's dyes Fotonic and Lysonic printed with Epsons have been tested by Wilhelm years ago and they failed. That resulted in no Wilhelm test of Lyson inks ever since. Lyson has a page on the light resistance of the two dye qualities but in their test a confusing mix of 4 and 6 ink printer models is used to disguise the (different) bad properties of the Fotonic and the Lysonic. They lost my credit years ago and I was not interested in their pigment ink that came available after we were using Mediastreet's Generations 4 already and later on MIS 7600 (Epson 9000-10000). With the HP Z3100 frugal ink consumption and excellent fade resistance I'm not looking back anymore. It is not just the fade properties but the color consistency per batch and the inks settling is just that little bit worse than with the big manufacturers.

That's exactly my experience with Lyson with both Epson and Canon printers.
With my CIS for an Epson 2200 I use Epson 220ml carts emptied into bottles to top up the system.
Next time I'm buying either the replacement for the 3800 or the 7900 and will never use third party inks again.

That is a good strategy!

Even the 3800 carts are a bit small. The larger carts are great.
I have been able to find Epson inks cheaper than the 3rd party pigment inks (which run $100 to $180 per liter.)
You also have to be very careful with the 3rd party inks about their gamut claims. I looked at many that claimed to be as good as the Epson 7800 K3 inks. Most were **worse** than the Epson 7600 K2 inks, including the most expensive ones like the Pantone (far worse than the 7600 K2 at low "L" values if I remember correctly.)
I did successfully use some 3rd party "Claria match" (quote unquote ) dye inks for proofing only. At $27 per liter they werre very economical and had good gamut.
But, I **never** used them for final prints, only for large proofs (24x36, etc.) I just could not count on the longevity. No 3rd party manufacturer really has good longevity data that they publish out and stand behind! Just vague claims.
Best,
Michael

Where do you buy your original inks? I need Canon, not Epson, but they may sell them there, too.

Look at the volume suppliers on Ebay.
I only buy fresh dated, not the outdated. I am able to get the Epson K3 carts for 1/2 off of street price ($42 per 220ml), or about 1/3 of list. That is about the same as the Cone pricing for the K3 compatible.
I can get the K2 inks a little cheaper.
Good luck!

In Sweden I have to pay $24 for one R2880 cartridge (11ml)
( street price in Sweden 145 {SEk} / 6 {SEK per $} = $24 )

Buy them in Germany then:
[a href=\"http://www.preisroboter.de/search.php?search=epson+r2880+tinte&x=0&y=0&min=&max=]http://www.preisroboter.de/search.php?sear...0&y=0&min=&max=
Excluding. VAT, MWST, about 71 Eurocents a ML. Similar to most Epson A4-A3 desktop printer carts of that size.
Sweden is an EC member.

If you could recommend a couple of the dealers?

Huh, eBay!
How do you know they don't relabel old inks?
I call eBay eCrook, as it seems to attract mostly those "business people" that like to work in the shade of a screen name than under their own name.
Don't get me wrong, I just don't trust anything eBay period.
Do you know any real store that sells ink at a good price?

I only use Epson inks because of longevity concerns; BUT I am enamored with some third partiy papers (e.g Ilford Gold Fibre Silk). Any longevity info using Epson inks and Ilford papers? I also LOVE Ink Jet Art's Luster, because I can get it in 17"x25" size, allowing my standard uncropped print size of 16"x24" with nice borders.
Thanks

Check more pages there, some are in English. I do not know whether there are the papers tested you mention here but it is your best chance right now. The Ilford Gold Fibre Silk was included in a quality test in the July issue of ColorFoto and Image Engineering usually is involved in the tests there. All aspects of printing + ozone and light test. The Gold Fibre was awarded as best allround. Nice Dmax but nothe highest of the fibers. ColorFoto also sells the test articles as PDFs through their webpages, test was done with an Epson 4800 printer:
www.ColorFoto.de
German though.
I have not finished reading it. Quite thorough but with some oddities in the text.
