I'm working with photographs taken with an electron microscope. The images are 8-bit grayscale .tif files, and when opening them in PS CS2, I'm getting the missing profile warning. I can choose one of the following options:
1. Leave as is (don't color manage)
2. Assign working gray: Dot Gain 20%
3. Assign profile (Dot gain 10%; Dot gain 15%, etc., or Gray Gamma 1.8, Gray Gamma 2.2, Black and White, sGray, etc.)
I intend to print the images on a high quality inkjet using pigment inks. Which is my best choice?

Assign the one that provides the best appearance.

Keep in mind that printer drivers assume Gamma 2.2, so you would need image to be in Gamma 2.2 if you select "let the printer determine colors" when printing from Photoshop.
