Hi,
I thought I should make people aware of problems some licensed and demo users of DxO Optics v5 are currently facing.
If you are contemplating buying, upgrading or even demoeing V5, do yourselves a favour and read through the DxO.com forums first or scan other photography related forums for such issues.

THanks. DxO 5 is still a beta version. Seem to be that a lot of buyers have troubles including me! Bought this the first day and I can't still start it up!

Thought I should update this to be fair to DxO.
Latest release 5.0.2 seems to fix most of the major 'doesn't start' and snail-like performance problems and, at least for the purposes of demoing, it seems one can avoid the anti-pirate code.
Quite a few issues and bugs remain IMO to make this production ready, of which I find most significant the fact that it seems there is no facility to import and export projects from databases and also merge or otherwise maintain the database.

5.0.0 works ok on my Pentium 4 laptop. I had some startup issues when I first installed it, but they went away after a reboot. I'm sort of afraid to try 5.0.2.
My real problem with 5X is that there are very few lens modules available for my new camera, and I already gave away my old one. So I can't use any version of DXO on anything I'm shooting now. I can go back and work on old shots, but where's the fun in that?

I checked the DXO site today, and they have added a lot of new lens modules to DXO Optics V5 for the 40D, including all but two of the lenses I use. This is good news. I'll be testing V5 over the weekend.
