Title: up rezzing challenge

Hi, I recently had a hard drive disaster and lost the raw files for an important image. All I am left with is a 1,500 kb jpeg. My intenetion was to print the file as large as possible. I'm going to try up rezzing in photoshop and apply pk sharp. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I up rez in steps? If so, how many to get me to 20x30 inches?

Try up-sizing in 10 percent increments in Photoshop.  If you have a friend with Genuine Fractals, that might work better.  Careful with PK sharpener on a file that's been goosed like that.  You might be better off just using Photoshop to sharpen the picture.  Be sure to convert the Jpeg to a Tiff or psd file before you start playing with it. It depends on what version of PS you are working in, what the best way will be for you.

I assume you meant CS2...Then there is no need for the 10% at a time.  You can try going right to the size you need with bicubic smoother, or try a third party like Blowup or genuine fractals.  The difference between the three will be minor and may be to taste.

No, it's much better to do it in one step in CS2/3. Try each of the interpolation options and see which is best for your file.

Same as CS2, but try just bicubic too.
