nice photos.
85mm (guess: 133 in 35mm)
the Mark III has a multiplier of 1.3 so 85mm would be approx 110mm in 35mm terms.

Gregory

I am a nikon shooter (d200), and I am so happy with my equipment but when I watch photos taken with canon's 5d or markIII I am absolutely stunned.
I can't shot over iso400 and canon's shooters can shot iso3200 every time they want.
I went to a party the last weekend and there was a photographer with a markIII camera; He was shooting without flash when the people was dancing in the dark.
I asked him about the flash absence and he said to me that He had a free 5 stops more card.
That was amazing, He was shooting at iso3200 without problems!

that is why i posted the pictures...to show the incredible low light abilities of the markIII......with my 85L 1.2 lens along with this camera i feel as though it would have to be pitch black in order for me not to be able to get a shot...i do not like flash and will go out of my way to shoot natural light.....with the markIII and the 5d one can do this comfortably

I am happy for you for having such a camera but never understimate the creative power of flash.

The creative power of taking a flash into a theatre ? Like performance art - setting off a lynching ?

indeed, when i shoot inside a jazzclub or a concert hall flash is not an option...

That's right in that example, I just felt surprised you didn`t like flash.
It is not an option in this case, I accept that.

Quick question - did Birdland give you a hard time about shooting? ...or were you free to take as many shots as you wanted? Also - do you remember who was on drums with Lew that night?
Thanks,
jdv

birdland is very good about my taking pictures....i dont bother anybody, obviously dont use a flash and mind my own business....in fact,in jazz clubs it is the people with the point and shoots who are the bigger nuisances because they get up to walk cloe to the stage and they do use their flash.....i dont remember the drummers name although lew said he was his longtime drummer....he did have his wife play some piano which was a treat......
