Title: Hasselblad Promotional Bundle
Post by: godtfred on February 23, 2007, 06:23:13 am
Looks like Hasselblad is making a great offer at the moment, check out:

http://www.hasselblad.se/promotions/h3d-bundle.aspx (http://www.hasselblad.se/promotions/h3d-bundle.aspx)

I'm not sure i understand the content exactly, but in my understanding the offer is this as follows.

For the price of a H3D-39, you will recieve:

*The H3D-39 body and back.
*A 100GB imagebank.
*A 28mm HCD lens
*A lens of your choice (excluding the 300mm)
*Neccesary cables and fittings, etc.
*A case to fit it all in.
*A one year subscription to "Victor"

Seems like a sweet deal, the subscription is not much to brag about, but the two lenses and the imagebank amount to a tidy sum. Also the case looks sturdy enough, but once you get a third lens it will probably not see as much use...

I would think one should not expect to get much discount when buying such a deal, but the amount saved on optics and storage far supersedes what one would expect on a dealer price reduction when not buying a bundle like this. (?)

If I only new the price, I am prepared to vote or not.

I like the idea very much and it is perfect time for me, but seriously you can't say much if you don't know the price.

So right!

I would expect the price to be the same as current H3D-39 prices stated at dealers, dont know wether this is the body/back or 80mm/body/back price one would compare/use.

If the price is not the same, it is yet another case of poor hasselblad marketing, but may still be a viable and good offer.

The price for this bundle in Sweden is 300 000 SEK = 41 400 USD without  tax.

I hope my kid (H3D39+28/4+55-110/4.5+100/2.2+120/4) to deliver before next Tuesday will have such case and offer. I did not care to order the image bank.

Perhaps, it is targeted for collectors only. Knowing Hasselblad so far, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

That is the first time i have ever heard of anything being cheaper in Norway than in Sweden

Here in Norway the H3D back/finder/body kit costs 209 160,00 NOK (thats 34,013.63 USD) excluding taxes and vat.

I you where to buy the following here in Norway separately:

H3D-39 kit (body, finder, back)
28mm HCD Lens
50-110 HC Lens
Imagebank

you would pay 275 772,- (excl. tax/vat) according to my dealers price lists. (Thats 44 836.95 USD, 10 823,32 USD up from the basic kit price/presumed offer.)

Dont know the price of the case and the subscription, but that can not amount to much...

Knowing Hasselblad, their case could easily go for US 1000.00 and with regards to  subscription, I agree subscription can not amount to much...

It seem like we are saving one lens tops, which is good anyway.

Robert White quote £17000 for a kit at the moment, if Hasselblad don't mean that then it's a bit misleading.

I see they have added a promotional bundle kit since I last looked £21,000, not the deal the Hasselblad e-mail makes it out to be, as the previous H3 kit was £17000.

The good thing about this Hasselblad bundle, is that Sinar,Leaf,Mamija and Phase, will also have to do a promotion.

I've been told that Sinar will have a promotion for the Hy6 soon.

Cheers,

Willem.

you will have to ask hass about that....it just says so on the bottom of the page....
i got an email with the offer yesterday.....no price, but i thought that the deal is to get the kit for the same as the H3D kit? it does not seem that exciting to just make a kit with the 28 and another lens and give the buyer 1000 or 2000 off....nice but? are we talking 2 to 4% off?

When i first saw the deal on the HB website, it was my impression also that the price was the same as for the previous H3D kit (body, finder, back) But when i went back to it now (later) i see that its going to have its own price. This was not clear to me in the beginning, so either I misread or the website text was changed. The deal is anyways not so sweet anymore, looks like it's about the price of a lens that is the real saving, and that is a deal that hasselblad has run alot the last few years...

Robert White Store, they are listing Hasselblad's promotion at 20,925.00 GBP which is more or less 41,065.24 USD and a bit cheaper then quoted before when researched by
our fellow photographers.

I purchased many pieces at Robert White Store. Perhaps, I can get a much better deal with Robert then going elsewhere, we will see.

I will do that for sure. However, if nothing happens, Robert White will be more then happy to assist and I know that for sure.

Another point of view is the fact that Hasselblad have always had a corner full of faithful collectors-photographers. So I don't think they need to worry at all, the outcome of their promotion will turn out to be Success for sure.

there are some other things to consider.....things happen, backs have problems or break, i would STRONGLY recommend buying local or with someone you have a relationship with, so a replacement is not weeks away....in the long run, saving a couple of 1000 is not worth it (out of 30000-40000)....international warranty is great but with hass's record and the way their bodies and lenses hold up i would only buy from a store that can provide at least a rental/back-up right away and maybe at discounted prices...
