Title: Does my web site need additional protection?
Post by: Dave Gurtcheff on October 21, 2026, 03:52:14 pm
I am a Senior and designed, built and maintain my web site built long ago with the long discontinued Microsoft Expressions Web. My web site provider was sold several times (now Network Solutions). Two Owner's ago, I never had any hosting or security problems. I have now had several lapses where I paid fees and they were not renewed on time. The last screw up on their part, I decided to renew my web site hosting and SSL Certificate for 5 years (Optimistic, as I will be 90 in February). I renewed everything on 9/24/26. I recently added Firefox Browser. I already have Chrome, Edge, and Duck Duck Go. To my horror, when I tried to go to my site (MODERN PICTORIALS) using Firefox I got an UNSAFE warning. It said the Certificate provided has been revoked and the site is not trusted anymore. After wasting time with Network Solutions' Robots, I finally got a real live agent. I explained my problem to the agent, and she left for several minutes and said she could fix that problem, but highly recommended I spend another hefty fee for multiple years to add something called "C Watch Premium". I was told that because my site has multiple pages that linked back to the home page it was in danger of being compromised even more so that an unlinked web site. Does this sound legit? This is the second time in less than a month where my renewals were not properly executed, and the site would not work properly or the person trying to get to it was told it was unsafe. After the fix today, Firefox seems to play nicely with Modernpictorials.com. The reason for multiple browsers, is I like to see that they all work OK with my web site. For example on my web site, I recently added several new Note Cards to the NOTE CARD page. The new cards showed up on all browser EXCEPT Edge. OK on every site except that one. Still pondering that. UPDATE: Over on Dpreview several members said they also got the same warning using Iphones or ipads.
Thanks in advance

Well Safari can't open the site.
Yes,  SSL Certificates do go south; updating just that shouldn't be a big deal.
From what I've read, you don't want to go anywhere near C Watch Premium!

Thanks Digitaldog. I guess that is why my ipad will not work through Safari. But I did yesterday install Chrome on my ipad and it will open my site. I need to get to the bottom of this, but I spent a half day screwing around with my web site provider and messing around with different Browsers.
Thanks again
