Title: Epson P900 print nozzle check paper feed problem

I always run a nozzle check before print runs since I am printing mostly 17x22". Lately the paper feed for the nozzle check grabs the recommended bright white paper at an angle and crumbles it into the printer. I do not have any feed problems with other papers. I print only on Hahnemühle Photo Rag and Fine Art Baryta in varying thicknesses and sizes. I believe this may have happened due to a recent firmware update. The printer has light usage and I never had a problem with it. I am running firmware version 04.55.KI03P9. Has anyone else had this problem?

I know many have had good luck with the P900, I wasn't so lucky...

The first purchased new worked great with matte paper but would never feed luster properly, always needing help. When I wanted to print with Exhibition Fiber, that was the end of the paper feed and it was replaced under warranty.

Things worked out better with the 2nd printer. But after nearly a year, it first started to spit ink on the borders before grabbing three sheets of Exhibition Fiber and becoming a brick. It was out of waranty and beyond repair.

I found a used 3880 which had the ink valve problem for very little. I had my printer guru rebuild it and it's been going strong for two years.

Last year, I hedged my bet and bought a pair of P800 printers, pretty much just updated 3880s and I couldn't be happier!

All three can sit for weeks unused and usually the nozzle check is fine when I start using them again.

Had the 5370 been available, I may have bought that in the first place and saved myself grief and have "only" one printer sitting on my desktop today.

There may be a way to "fix" your paper feed in your P900 by roughing-up the feed rollers but if it starts randomly flinging ink or it attempts to pull several sheets into the feeder, it may be on its last legs.

I wanted this printer to work well so I could print both matte and photo papers but ended up with dedicating one printer to each of my P800s which works just fine.

Thanks Larry. Sorry for the late reply. I solved the problem by using 90gsm paper. The lighter weight didn’t feed properly.
