Too late. Retired. :)

you hiked 40 miles?... man... that is a long way...how long did it take you?.. what gear did you use to make the hike.?
Backpacked over five days. The only gear was a small but mighty Sony RX100MIII. Looking into upgrades.

Hopefully it was an enjoyable hike! That's not a bad shot.
I've had trips like that too. I try to enjoy the trip regardless but getting photos I'm proud of make it even more enjoyable.

I lean towards colour,... but the monochrome version does indeed appeal to me more, guess it is the lights versus the darks that appeals more strongly to me.

Glad your hike went well, your image capture shows it did indeed.

I have been to that place I would suggest you going there during an electrical storm maybe the shock will motivate your creativity...not trying to be so mean but you should be able to make a few decent images without 40mi hike bottom line is you got your steps in and one good image.
