Great details, textures are nice too and I like the composition. It makes me think to a small version of a hamster wheel.

Great capture!

But left me wanting to know what exactly are we looking at? Dead mantis? Mantis capable of camouflaging itself like a chameleon?

Slobodan, it was very much alive and moving an irritating amount! It's called a dead-leaf mantis because that's just what it looks like. In some individuals, the wings even have small holes, looking more like dried-up leaves. I'm no source of knowledge on their habits, but I assume the camouflage helps both to avoid predators and to catch prey. They won't draw blood with the claws but they can give fingers a fairly painful nip.
