In relative terms, this young cypress is just a baby in an aquafer where Cypress Trees live hundreds of years. I've presented it as a color and a B&W.

Good shooting, Chris. They each have their positives but for me, unusually, the B&W comes second.

Thanks, guys. I too prefer the color version but only because the B&W didn't quite do as I intended in post...it's back to the drawing board.

Beautiful subject. I"m a colour fan and I like the rendition of the green.
I think the background darkening might be a bit too much. My guess is with it brighter the tree gets lost so there is a trade off there for sure.

I agree and think the colour adds something more interesting and extra into the shot. I don't mind the mono version, but that 'splash' of colour, really helps to lift the tree out of its background.

Thanks for all the comments. The BG is dark but prints out much lighter...I find darks tend to clog up when changed to lo res jpegs.
